What to wear?
Photographers have varied opinions on this subject.
Personally, I think traditional clothing rules can be broken! It’s all about context – what do you want your photographs to convey?
I always suggest you bring a couple of outfits and/or layers (jackets, vests, etc.) that fit well and are comfortable to move around in – you will be sitting, kneeling, standing, etc. and keep in mind that the majority of my sittings are shot outdoors.
I also recommend plenty of fun accessories – hats, scarves, funky necklaces, neckties, hats, boots, belts – pieces that reflect you and your personal style.
I do suggest staying away from large logos or characters prints simply to keep focus on you and not potential eye distractions.
Groups should try to stay within the same color family; there is nothing wrong with everyone wearing the exact same color – just play with patterns, textures, and styles. You can be monochromatic without being monotone.
Newborns + babies – simple is best.
I am always willing to lend a hand where styling is involved – so if you have a question, please ask!
Props?
I do not use a ton of intricate props – but I am not opposed to any that you may want to bring and include in your session.
My only suggestion is that the prop should never overshadow you – we want the focus to be on the people being photographed.
What to bring?
I want everyone to be as comfortable and as happy as possible – whatever that entails, I recommend bringing it!
If children are involved I suggest bringing snacks, toys, or anything that will keep them content throughout the session.
What is my style?
I like to think of my style as non-traditional, candid, and artistic – and I pride myself in staying true to my artistic point of view.
I may not be the perfect match for everyone and I am okay with that. I respect all styles and if mine isn’t what you are looking for I will gladly refer you to someone I may know who is.
